本記事では、フィリピンと日本の似ている迷信を8つ紹介しています。日本とフィリピンではどういった違いがあるのか、など昔から伝えられる有名な迷信を紹介します！

Many countries around the world has a lot of interesting and spooky superstition beliefs. These were passed through generation to generation. For this blog I chose Philippines and Japan since both countries has similar cases. Here are the Top 8 Superstition Beliefs.

世界中の多くの国には、興味深い、もしくは不気味な迷信がたくさんあります。これらは世代から世代に受け継がれてきました。本記事では、フィリピンと日本の似ている迷信を８つ紹介します！

1. Black Cat  黒猫

 
Crossing paths with a cat is a bad omen in both Japan and Philippine’s superstition belief. It is believe that you will receive a bad news or worst you’ll get involve in an accident.

黒猫が前を横切ることは日本とフィリピンでは悪いことが起きる前兆を表します。これは悪い知らせがあるか、最悪の場合、事故に巻き込まれると信じられています。

2. Funeral Car  霊柩車

As for Japanese belief , If you come across a funeral car you have to hide your thumb “oyayubi” which means parent finger. It is believed that your parents will die early if you don’t do it. On the other hand, Filipinos believe that tossing coins to a funeral car will serve as spirit’s fare or fee to cross the afterlife.

日本では、霊柩車が前を通る時、親指を隠さなければいけません。これは親指を隠さないと、自分の親が早死にしてしまうかもしれないと言う迷信があります。一方、フィリピンでは、葬儀用の車にコインを投げることで来世やあの世へ行く運賃として役立つと信じられています。

3. Cutting your nails 爪を切る

It is believed that cutting nails means bad luck to Japanese people. It means that you will die before your parents do.

夜、爪を切ることは日本では不運とされています。フィリピンでは、親が死ぬ前に自分が死ぬという迷信があります。

4. Sweeping the floor 床を掃除する

Many elderly people in the Philippines believe that sweeping at night is like your sweeping away wealth.

多くのフィリピンの年配の人達は、夜に床を掃除することは、健康を取り除くという迷信を信じています。

5. Comb クシ

If you accidentally break a comb in Japan It means it’ll bring bad luck to the person who broke it.

日本では、クシを壊したら壊した人に不運が起こるという迷信があります。

6. Glass グラス

If you accidentally break a glass in the Philippines, It means someone in your family died or had an accident.

フィリピンでは、もしグラス（コップ）を壊したら、家族の誰かが亡くなるか事故が起こるという迷信があります。

7. Hide your belly button おへそを隠す

Some Japanese might heard this when they were a child that they should hide there belly button during a thunderstorm because if they don’t, the deity of thunder, Raijin will swoop down and eat them.

子供の頃、雷が鳴っている間おへそを隠さなければいけないと聞いた日本人は多いはずです。そうしないと雷様が下りてきて、おへそを食べてしまうという迷信があります。

8. Cover your mirrors 鏡を覆う

When a thunderstorm occurs, Filipinos cover their mirrors with a piece of cloth to avoid being struck by a lightning.

雷雨が発生すると、フィリピン人は雷に打たれないように鏡を布で覆います。

まとめ

We may have a lot of superstition beliefs but still it’s up to us whether to believe it or not. And of course there’s nothing wrong of doing or believing these practices.

以上のように私たちは迷信をたくさん持っていますが、もちろんそれを信じるかどうかは私たち次第です。そしてこれらの慣行を信じたり実行することは、それぞれの国の先祖から受け継がれた文化そのものでもあります。

フィリピン人はキリスト教徒が多く信仰深いので、特にこういった迷信を信じています。迷信は各国にあり、共通した迷信もあれば、少しだけ違う意味のものもあります。

国によっては固く信じられていたりするので、迷信に背く事が失礼だったりします。なので訪れる国の迷信を調べるのも、その国の文化を理解するためにも良い事だと思います。

また自分の国との違いなどを話すと会話が盛り上がります！少なくともフィリピン人とは盛り上がります！
